Colorix developements

Well, it was about time I got of my lazy ass and did something so I took a look inside 7-Zip source and added primitive support for external Icons.

It’s still unfinished and it’s implementation isn’t “perfect”, but it’s simple. ~~I’m still working around it to provide a way to do something like “7zFM.exe /refresh-icons”~~ (done) to make it easy for icon pack authors like myself to distribute their work.

Time will tell if it becomes a base feature of 7-Zip but for now those that want to take an early peak can check the beta, you’ll need 7-Zip 9.04 beta for it to work properly.

Update: I’ve refreshed the files with the addition of the “/refresh-icons” command line option to 7zFM.exe.

Colorix Update

Well it was about time I updated Colorix wasn’t it.

I’ve added the missing icons although they’re all white, I seriously couldn’t think of any color for what were basicly just several disk image formats (not even compressed). The rest was just variants of formats already included. Better then nothing I guess

Finally got around to publicly updating the colorix installer, unfortunately as before the love didn’t reach the 64bit version of 7-Zip. Anyways those users can always patch it manually with the icon only pack.

7-Zip Colorix Changes

As far as I know nobody but me was using my 7-Zip Colorix Icon pack and I couldn’t understand why, they were nicer then the ones 7-Zip has by default and the color coding made it easy to quickly know what kind of archive you were dealing with.

I was talking with a friend about this and he said something that completely surprised me, “People won’t be bother to install an icon pack”, he had a point, so from now on the Colorix icons will be distribute in a full 7-Zip installer, that means you just need to install 7-Zip Colorix Edition and you’re ready to go .

Also I’ve asked 7-Zip author to add a link for the Colorix edition to the 7-Zip page, let’s see how that goes…

Well just updated the colorix icon pack to version 4.19b of 7-Zip, you can get it in the latest versions or clicking Colorix v4.19b.

Pong Game

Dam me I keep neglecting my blog, Any way one of me mates made a pong “clone” game in flash, a little frustrating (the AI is way too smart) any way is ISP host was way too slow so I’m helping out by serving the file here. So go get it

Here it his version 2.1 (of the website) is not finished and it’s buggy but, i has tired of having this on my hard drive doing nothing so here it his I hope to finish what’s missing as soon as possible, till then enjoy (if you can).

Finally Back…

After a long time of doing what I do best, nothing at all .
Has i sited to write this post I realized that MAD Alien was now more then 2 years old, I was surprised how old it was and the fact that i never celebrated it’s anniversary probably due to the fact i don’t remember the exact date . Still MAD Alien is 2 years old, it has passed the many trials of time resisting and refusing to go away, with it, i learned all I know about making web pages and visual basic programming, i can only hope that MAD Alien stays around until the day i die.
with that out of the way let me give you the latest updates, I’m currently working in a small update of the web site so it will use fusion news so posting news will be faster and more frequent. About MAD Alien applications I decided that not continue their development so users should go to the following addresses for some quality alternatives.

I guess I’m making up for the lost time, well what’s new in version 1.42:

no longer a beta but still full of typos (sorry but my English is terrible);
now with a “real” help file;
minor changes to the GUI;
full Windows XP support (untested).

Well that’s all have fun playing those games .
